RFU Coach & Volunteer Development – October

Rob Featherstone

In October, we are delighted to be hosting the RFU Coach & Volunteer Development Team at the Gannock, who will be delivering three CPD sessions.

Developing Coaching Practice

The new Developing Coaching Practice course is now the minimum entry standard for coaches delivering rugby to U12 teams.

This course replaces the previous Tag First and First Contact courses. It supports coaches to:

  • Create positive environments for players
  • Develop fundamental coaching skills
  • Understand and apply player welfare principles
  • Support players in their ongoing development

Important: A minimum of 1 hour of e-learning must be completed before the face-to-face session can be unlocked.

The course should be available to book shortly through England Rugby Learning, search Developing Coaching Practice- North.

Play It Safe – Two Sessions at the Gannock

We have also agreed to host TWO Play It Safe evenings.

There are a number of new coaches and volunteers in our age-grade section since the last Play It Safe course was held at the club two years ago. In addition, those who completed the course three seasons ago are now due to expire on 13 September.

Play It Safe is a mandatory requirement for all:

  • Coaches
  • Referees
  • Volunteers
  • Team Managers
  • First Aiders

You can now book online through England Rugby Learning by searching for “Play it Safe - North”.

Please note that the Introduction to Safeguarding e-learning must be completed beforehand.

? Course Costs

Course costs will be reimbursed to club members. (This is subject to Rugby development team approval)

Please do not ignore this message. Check your current qualification status on GMS. Learning, book the appropriate course where required, and pass this information on to other coaches, volunteers and team staff who may need to complete it.

Thank you for helping us keep our players, coaches and volunteers supported and safe.
