A swashbuckling start from Shaun Harland saw him race past 50 before another batter had even got off the mark! We struggled to control the middle overs, before Matty Turnbull blasted a late 50 to push Malton up to 184/8.
Wickets were shared around, including two for Bill & four for Redders, with some superb grabs from the boundary riders keeping us in the game.
In reply, Redders and Stevo got us off to a flyer blasting 45, before Malton introduced the tweakers to slow the run rate. Stevo eventually departed, bringing Belly to the crease alongside Redders — who certainly wasn’t slowing down, powering his way to a six-laden 72 before being trapped in front.
At 112/2 after 14 overs, it really could have gone either way.
Belly and our middle order of Mike Linsley, our special guest player, Triff and Lummers kept swinging, with some big blows getting us within touching distance. Unfortunately, it ultimately wasn’t to be.
With a ball to go and 18 still needed, Bill strode to the crease and swaled a single!
A great effort from the lads.
Cheers for all the support!
